2025 Scholarship Requirements & Selection Criteria
Please note that the 2026 requirements and selection criteria may change. The requirements below from 2025 should serve as an idea of what may be required. We will update this to the “2026 Scholarship Requirements & Selection Criteria” when the application period opens.
Please read the following before submitting your application for the 2025 Shared Energy Future Foundation STEM and Trade scholarship.
STEM Scholarship – (10) $1,500 scholarships will be awarded. Award criteria is based on:
High school senior with a 3.0 or above GPA
Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the STEM field
Demonstrated financial need will be considered
Planned full-time attendance at an accredited U.S. two- or four-year college or university – Applicant must be located in CA, AZ, NV, OR, or WA
Planned degree enrollment in one of the following majors:
Computer Science
Engineering (electrical, mechanical, industrial, environmental, power and/or energy)
Geology
Mathematics
Physics
One letter of recommendation from a teacher and one letter from a counselor.
Trade School – (5) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Award criteria is based on:
High school senior with a 2.0 or above GPA or 1st Year Apprentice
Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career by attending a trade school
Demonstrated financial need will be considered
Planned enrollment in a trade school in the following fields:
Automotive
Carpenters
Commercial/Specialized Driver’s License
Electrical
Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC)
Welding
Plumbers/Pipefitters
Applicant must be located in CA, AZ, NV, OR, or WA
Personal statements are required for ALL scholarships.
Please write a personal statement that tells SEFF a little about yourself, your career and educational goals and objectives, and what experiences, if any, you already have in your planned educational and career choice. Some items to consider, but not limited to, when writing your statement include:
Are you the first member of your family to attend college or a trade school? Or the first in a generation to do so?
Do you have hobbies or interests? Any extracurricular activities you participate in?
How has adversity affected your life and how you learned from it?
Anything you believe would provide us a better understanding of who you are.
Statement requirements: No more that two pages (single sided), double-spaced, and 12-point Times New Roman font.
Selection Criteria
Recipients are selected based on consideration of academic performance, participation in school and community activities, a personal statement, and two letters of recommendation.
